What are your top 5 strengths and how do they show up in your coaching and facilitation?

My top 5 strengths are Positivity, Activator, Maximiser, Futuristic, and Competition.

They shape my work in coaching and facilitation in powerful ways. Positivity creates an engaging, encouraging space where people feel energised. Activator pushes me to get people moving from awareness to action quickly. Maximiser drives me to help individuals and teams refine their strengths and make the most of their potential. Futuristic allows me to paint a compelling vision of what’s possible, inspiring people to see their strengths as a roadmap for success. Competition fuels my desire to see every participant “win” by leveraging their strengths in a way that makes them stand out.

Do you remember your first reaction to your strengths?

Absolutely! When I first saw my results, I remember thinking, “Yes! This explains so much about how I show up in the world.” Positivity and Activator made perfect sense—I’ve always been someone who energises others and wants to get things moving. But I was also pretty mortified about Competition as I saw the word quite negatively… Over time, I realised it wasn’t about beating others but about striving for excellence and pushing myself and those I coach to be the best versions of themselves.

What is the most surprising way your strengths have helped you personally or professionally?

One of the biggest surprises has been how much my Maximiser and Futuristic strengths help me anticipate and shape opportunities before others see them. I’ve learned that I naturally spot potential in people and ideas, and that allows me to guide teams and individuals toward high-impact actions. Professionally, this has helped me build a strong reputation as someone who not only coaches but helps others elevate their strengths in meaningful ways.

How has knowing your strengths changed the way you face challenges?

Instead of focusing on what I lack, I now approach challenges through the lens of my strengths (starting with Positivity, Activator, and Maximiser). When things get tough, I rely on Positivity to keep momentum, Activator to take immediate action, and Maximiser to fine-tune the process as I go. I know that I have the capability to handle anything that comes my way when I lean upon my strengths.

What is your favourite thing someone has said when debriefing their strengths?

Someone once said, “Wait… so I’m not broken? This is just how I’m wired?” It was such a lightbulb moment for them, and I loved seeing the relief and excitement on their face. So many people spend years trying to “fix” things about themselves that aren’t actually flaws—they’re just talents they haven’t fully leaned into yet. Having the privilege of being in these types of conversations never gets old!

If you could develop one lesser strength into a greater talent, which would it be and why?

I’d love to develop Adaptability more. While I have strong focus and discipline, I sometimes get so locked into my vision (Futuristic) and drive for excellence (Maximiser) that I struggle with being fully present in the moment. By focusing on Adaptability I think I would be able to go with the flow more...

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone new to strengths?

Own your strengths with confidence! Too often, people downplay or dismiss their natural talents because they seem too easy and/or not special. But your strengths are your superpowers. Lean into them, use them intentionally, and watch how they transform the way you work, lead, and live.
